Well, it happened. I fell flat on my face, off the wagon. My eating got out of control. And by out of control I just mean it got crappy again. French fries, sausage, fried, fried, fried. Until my gall bladder spoke up last week. "Enough," it screamed. All the way until 4:30a on Wednesday morning. I woke Frank and we headed to the hospital. Now, thankfully there were no stones. Just irritated. But, it was an eye opener. Seriously. I've had a few attacks in my life. I don't want a repeat if I can help it.
I researched and researched and came across the Mediterranean diet. Basically whole foods. Lots of vegis and fruits. Nuts for snacks. Lots of seafood. Limited red meat. Limited sugars. Wine, if I want, but I won't indulge :).
I've been eating this way since Thursday. I feel so much better. And I've lost 4 pounds so I can't much complain. I still crave my soda, but I know in the end it's just not a healthy thing to be hooked on so I'll hang in there until the cravings pass. Other than that, I'm rather enjoying this. It's not complicated. I just have to think a little when I'm eating or preparing to eat. As long as the staples are on hand, all is well. And eating out, so far, has been pretty simple. Most places I go have shrimp or salmon or some kind of fish and vegi dish that I enjoy. I don't know why I hadn't stumbled on this one earlier. Just glad I found it now and that I'm feeling better on it.
In other news, Kenzie passed her permit test and I will be taking her on her birthday to get her permit. Which is this Wednesday. She's super excited. State Farm has an iPhone app called Road Ready that helps track all her driving times. I'm pretty stoked about that. I was terrible at keeping Jake's logs!
That's about the skinny. Nothing else exciting to report.
