when work is dead. I'm in the CRC for day three with literally nothing to do. Day one was a nice break, day two, still nice after 8 weeks straight on desks, a little downtime is a good thing, but by yesterday afternoon I'd exceeded my web search capacity thoroughly and today looks to be another sloooooowwww day in here. So today I'm at least back to creative surfing.
Frank turned me on to a few good vegan cooking blogs. And I've been searching for things like Vegan restaurants in Denver...don't run off looking yourself, I'll save you some time. Not many qualify. Lots of vegetarian options out there, more than I was thinking there would be, but not so many Vegan fare places to visit.
If we lived in places like Portland or San Fran, perhaps we'd have more options, but alas, we are in Denver, but not even Denver, Castle Rock, which is a town I love, but unless I'm opening one, there really isn't much in the way of restaurant choices for me down there.
I went to Chili's a few weeks ago and ordered veg fajitas. I distinctly remember that used to be on their menu. Apparently it's not anymore. Our server was great, and his brother was Vegan so he totally got it. He asked if I wanted the plain bell peppers and onions or if I wanted all their vegi options steamed on the plate? Well, of course, bring it on. He came back from the kitchen a bit later and told us the order was in, he got yelled at for offering it, but it was all good. And I appreciated his effort with a large tip, because let me tell you - it's not easy eating out vegan, so all efforts on my behalf are appreciated.
I used to feel bad for making the restaurant's bend to my whim, but no more. I, as a paying customer, should be able to get what I want in a way that I want it. And really, I try. I try to find something on the menu that with a little modification fits what I need. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just trying to enjoy my dining experience like everyone else. And I have to say, that most times, the restaurants get that and are pretty accomodating. And I appreciate it.
So I'll keep surfin' today and making notes about what I find. No sense in letting a perfectly good day go to waste b/c there's no work to be had.

Point me in the direction of those blogs! :)
