So, we've had a gas stove sitting in our garage for E.V.E.R. and a day just waiting for us to have a gas line ran to the kitchen. We've been on electric since, well, forever. I haven't had a gas stove since I left Chicago in 1992. And still, I miss it.
Finally, I got a lead on a trusted plumber from a gal at work, we called him, he came down and gave us an estimate. Exactly what I had budgetted for the work. He's doing it on the side so it'll be another two weeks before all is said and done, but just the knowledge that one project is being marked off the list has me really very happy. Especially since the return will be high.
Maybe now I'll be able to get things hot enough -- hot enough to make my favorite peanut brittle for once. I haven't been able to make that since moving here a decade or so ago!

Although home cooks don't require quite the same performance that a professional chef needs from a stove, they may find that gas stoves are easier to work with and that they produce more dependable results than their electric counterparts.
