So Frank and I decided to beat the rush and have a date-day this past Saturday. We trecked downtown to go to the Home & Garden show. Especially since we have several projects we need to tend to this summer. Like painting the house.and. More landscaping (that's seriously never going to end I think). And then we want estimates for future projects like new windows and maybe even a timeshare. Who knows. But let me tell you - walking in those places is always overwhelming.
Frank and I spent a lot of time in the flower beds. I love that they set up all the gardens to walk through. I think for the left side of our yard we're going to do an herb/flower garden. Frank cooks so much these days it'll be well-worth growing our own herbs. We had basil and cilantro one year and that was wonderful. Wonder why I never replanted those? Anyway - we got ideas for mixed gardening (both in the ground and containers) and I think I like that idea the best. I have pictures which I'll download later and add of some of the flowers we're thinking of.
After tooling around there for a bit we decided to head out for lunch. We decided to try the Wynkoop Brewery b/c they had a few Veg selections on the menu. I had "Chikn" Cacciatore (made with Seitan - "wheat meat") and Frank had the veggie burger, which is homemade, but all their buns contained butter and milk. Bummer there. So he had his with white flour tortillas. I have to say, my dish was more than yummy. I by no means could finish it all. I was stuffed at half a dish. Good eats though. I would recommend it if you're looking for someplace downtown with a casual atmosphere and good grub. They even have their own rootbeer which made Frank happy. He loves fresh brewed rootbeer.
From there we ventured home. It was super cold on Saturday and we walked quite a bit to get to the restaurant and to the train. I was pooped. But it was nice. And I was glad to have the day together. And thankful for kids who are old enough to be left to their own devices for a few hours. I love that after 18+ years of being together, I still love being with Frank more than anyone else. No one makes me laugh the way he does. My man is a good egg! That's for sure.
