So, it's 2:57a and I'm too riled up to go to sleep. Could be that I took an extra dose of my ADHD meds coupled with 2 Excederin migraine to assure myself I would be not only awake, but present at the screening of New Moon tonight. Opening night. Midnight showing. I succeeded. And I hope sleep finds me soon because, as my mom always said, morning comes really, really quick.
To kick off the night, I hosted a pre-New Moon party with dinner (a la Italiano) and a screening of Twilight for a refresher. We didn't quite finish the viewing, but that's for later. For now, a few glimpses of my crack at a theme party -- totally out of my comfort zone, but in the end, I was pretty dang happy with it.
A little photoshop fun -- I had quotes from the movie scattered across the table...this one announced our dining pleasure for the evening. I served mushroom ravioli a la Bella, salad and drinks....
Pick your poison... ;)
And a little ambience to darken the mood...
Pretty clever, eh? I thought so. From dinner we started watching Twilight. Liz got into a panic with a call from a friend telling her the lines were already starting -- that was 7:45. Liz grabbed all of our jackets and headed down to man the line for us. She got there and called us in a panic that they were opening the theater up to pre-screen Twilight and then New Moon (they must have gotten the idea from me, ya think?) Turns out there was one screen doing that, but our theater, #8 was soley for New Moon and didn't start seating until 10pm. In our haste we bolted out of the house and started on our way to the theater, until Liz called and let us know about the misinformation. She was a good sport and continued to hold our seats until we could get there. And I'll admit, it was a while. We made a detour to Chick Fil A for a coke and some laughs.
We got to the theater just after seating time and Liz had saved practically a row. In my entire movie going life, I have never sat closer than 4 rows up from the rails. It's just my habit. I like to sit in the umpteenth row, center. Liz prefers the rail, and I have to admit. I may be a convert after tonight. It was nice to have a place to rest my feet without annoying anyone in front of me; and contrary to what I may have believed before tonight...it's really not "too" close to the screen. At least not for this movie. Nice eye candy.
So, we had a good 2 hours to blow before the movie, or should I say endless previews, started. We laughed, and goofed off, and ran into others we knew from town. I would say the adults easily kept pace with the numbers of kids in our theater.
Then the movie started, and other than Liz' comments cracking me up throughout (does bella really look like she's going to vomit every time she talks to Edward...you decide!), I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of book #2. Until the abrupt end. At least in the books you get a sneak peak at the first chapter from the next book. Could be that I just didn't want the movie to end. Yep, that's probably more like it. We just get Edward back and bang...O-V-E-R.
Jake did a great job throughout in this one. I have to say, for a while there I thought I might switch teams. But, alas, I think I'll always be on team Edward...
So, Alana, eat it up. Your near-40 girlfriend is swooning like a teenager. Giddy from her theme party and the ensuing big screen experience. Loved every minute of it. Hmmmm, it's 3:10 and I'm still a buzz...perhaps I'll crack open Eclipse and brush up before the release of movie #3...!

Sounds like a blast! I was asleep by 830 so I would've been a drag to be around. Glad you guys had a great time!! Way to partay!!

I have to admit .. this makes me feel a little teeny bit jealous .. the dinner part anyway.
You have to be my absolute favorite Twi-obesessed friend ever. When you get 'into' something .. you really go ALL OUT!!!! I hope you took more pics of dinner cause I obviously never made it over there!
