So - about two years ago we held a silent auction at Church for the Young Women's camp. That year I only bid on one thing, and I bid high to open. Mike Bahr, a neighbor of ours has a Harley. An Ultra Cruiser...like a living room on wheels...he offered a one-hour ride to highest bidder. You bet your sweet britches I won it. And then time got in the way. I was working, he was traveling, winter came and went and came again. Finally, tonight was the night...we went on a ride.
It was AWESOME. We rode out to Russellville, a town I didn't even know was on the map. Wide open spaces, giant prarie mansions on one side, cows and farms on the other. The sun was up for the most part and casting rays when it went behind the clouds. The air was warm and vibrating against my arms. It was heaven.
Once upon a time I rode. I even taught others how to ride for a time. My high school sweethart got a bike for his graduation present and after a year of being on back, he taught me to ride and I was hooked. My first ride was the Nighthawk S 700. A traditional, but sporty bike with a decent engine. I loved riding. I sorted out many a confusing issue in my times on the bike. Heck, I did that tonight during our ride. Just time to think and not be distracted. I miss those days.
So - tonight goes down in my journal as a highlight night. Something I'll think about for a long time to come. And I've started longing for a bike of my own again...Harley 883 Low...that's the beauty I have my eye on. Hmmm...Wonder what it would take to swing that...used...I could do used...oh oh -- now the wheels are turning...just what Frank hoped would come from Mike making good on my bid!

i love that!
