So, Colorado has been in a drought over the last oh, decade. Since we've lived here we've been pretty used to a little rain in June and then a mostly dry, hot summer. Not hot like Phoenix hot, but hot enough. This past month or so though has been amazing. Rain nearly ever afternoon around 3pm. Green lawns, flowers, plush trees, and mossy covered foothills. Its been nearly stunning as I drive around looking at the hills and mountains. It hasn't been overly hot, even cool enough come evening for sweatshirts. Apparently this is what Colorado summers were like before the drought. I'm taking it as a good sign. We've only had our sprinklers on like three times. I'm enjoying the break for both the water and air bills.
Last night was the fourth. We went to the Burris' home to celebrate with friends. Her brother and his wife were in from London. Teri is a fellow photographer. It was so great to have someone to sit and talk shop with for most of the evening. And Kasen, D's son...new to the photography world, but a natural talent. The three of us went on and on last night. We exchanged ideas and worked off each other's energy. So very very fun.
As dinner was getting under way the heavens parted and a torential rain came followed by hail. No tornadoes this time though...there's the silver lining. But it did end the hope of a fireworks show for last night. That was such a bummer. I was so ready to photograph it for once. Guess I'll have to wait until the star lighting in November now :( . I was pretty stoked to try out what I've learned to capture multiple bursts this year.
Dinner was great, the conversation with everyone was fun. It was great to see Teri and Kasen and to enjoy the festivities even if we were all locked inside! It felt so much more like a holiday spending it with friends who are family!

Okay Photography "Lady," you (ironically) very rarely put pictures on your blog but, I wold love to see some of those lush rolling Colorado hills!!! Please. I miss those CO summers bad. It's hot and dry here and not a thunderstorm to speak of.
Happy 4th.
