Thankfully, Phoenix is in the mid-60's. Not like when they say Denver is in the mid-60's this time of year. Denver's mid-60's is overshaddowed by clouds and wind that is more, well, wind than breeze. So our "60" is brrrr chilly. There's is, well, mid-60's! happiness.
Its a visit of both pleasure and work. Reconnecting and connecting. Playing and learning. All good stuff.
-
Pleasure: I get to hang with Rach all weekend.
-
Work: I'm going to the PPA convention. A Photography mecca of classes and seminars and mingling and observing!
-
Reconnecting: I'm meeting up with two friends. Lisa, who I haven't seen in some 20 years...so excited! And Kheila, who I haven't seen since the first Thanksgiving after we moved to Denver, so 6 years...and I might...if time permits...try to track my brother Mike's kids down...we'll see about that one. I might even get to see Greg again.
-
Connecting: I'll get to make bunches of new photography friends, and finally meet Kerri Doolittle, a photographer who lives near Rach, who has taken her under her wing, and who's photography/art I aspire to achieve.
-
Playing: Besides all the snap, snap, snapping of photos Rach and I will do for sure, I'm taking some classes from a criminal photography track...which ends with a mock crime scene shoot. I'm as excited as a little kid thrown in a ball pit!
-
Learning: I think when all is said and done, Rach and I will have added 10 classes or close to it. 10 classes from pros in the field the likes of Anne Geddes and Sandy Puc. Very very cool!
So, I'm waiting...waiting...watching the minutes tick by. I'm as interested in the plane ride there for the peace and quiet and dedicated reading time as I am by the adventures that await me.

wish I were sitting next to you on that plane....
